A founder note

I started Ayrwen because I kept asking a question nobody seemed to want to answer directly: why is it so hard to find personal care products that are genuinely better — for you, and for the world you live in?

Not perfect. Not certified-everything. Just better. Thoughtfully sourced, honestly made, and moving in the right direction.

I'm not a chemist or a materials scientist, just someone who got tired of choosing between products that work and products that don't cost the planet something. Ayrwen is my attempt to close that gap, one product at a time.

What Ayrwen is

Ayrwen is a curated personal care store built around a single belief: better is possible, and it's worth working toward.

Right now, that means carefully selecting products we'd actually use ourselves — things that perform, that don't rely on unnecessary chemicals, and that represent a step in the right direction. We're honest that not every product in our catalog is natural or plastic-free. We're not there yet. But every decision we make is pointed that way.

The name Ayrwen comes from the Welsh aur and gwen — gold and pure. It's a standard we're holding ourselves to, not a claim we've already earned.

Where we're going

The long-term vision is bigger than a store. We're actively researching biodegradable packaging alternatives made from agricultural materials — the kind of thing that could change what personal care packaging is made from at scale. That work is ongoing, and we'll be transparent about it as it develops.

For now, Ayrwen is the first step. A store that curates with intention, tells the truth about what it sells, and keeps moving toward something better.
